Non-Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitors (NNRTIs)

As is the case with nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs), NNRTIs also work by interfering with the transcription of viral DNA during HIV's replication process. However, rather than mimicking nucleotides assimilated in viral DNA, NNRTIs work by directly binding to the reverse transcriptase and inhibiting viral DNA polymerization.
