In treatment

If you are in treatment, you may have already had all of your basic questions answered (eg., How does HIV work? Which lab tests do I need? What do my results mean?). Your healthcare provider is there to continue to answer your questions and stay on top of how you are doing with your response to treatment and your overall physical and mental health. Here are some additional questions you may consider discussing with your healthcare provider as your treatment continues:

  • If my viral load starts to increase or my CD4 cell count starts to decrease, what should we do?
  • I'm having a new side effect; what does it mean? Examples of new side effects may be: changes in appetite, weight gain or loss, excessive diarrhea or nausea, or low energy level
  • What else can I do to stay healthy?
